10 Reasons Why Prepaying for Gas is Never a Good Deal

Image
Summer vacation means it's road-trip time! These days, with gas prices again on the rise, saving money at the pump is on every road-tripper's mind. "Want to fill the car up for 10 cents cheaper than local pump price?" the rental sales agent asks as he points to a sign showing a nice, cheap per-gallon price. Sounds like a good deal, no? As with  everything  in the rental car industry, there's a catch. Here are six reasons to think twice about prepaying that tank: 1. You're trusting them on the tank size. Tank sizes vary—sometimes even within a given make and model. When the delivery truck rolls in with a load of new cars, the fleet manager loads all the information about that car into the computer—often quickly, and sometimes making assumptions about the car's specifications. Plus, ever noticed a typo or misspelling on your rental paperwork or the vehicle's key tag? If they can accidentally label a silver car as "sliver," what...

Careem and Taxi Requirements: drivers, vehicles, and insurance

Image
Specific requirements vary slightly by state and city. However, most people are eligible to drive for both Careem and Taxi. Are you? The rideshare industry is certainly disrupting traditional forms of transportation as public transit services and taxis continue to feel the heat from popular unicorns, Careem and Taxi. However, it is not just public transit authorities and taxi companies paying close attention to this relatively new travel trend. Is it better to drive for Careem or Taxi? Are you looking to earn some extra cash by becoming a rideshare driver, but are not sure which company would suit you best? First, you'll want to compare the individual driver, vehic...

1970 Ford Maverick Grabber Donated to American Cancer Society

Image
Just recently we had a beautiful 1970 Ford Maverick Grabber donate to American Cancer Society.  This classic Ford Maverick Grabber came to us from a generous donor in Laguna Beach, California.  You can see from the picture that this car lived a privileged life in sunny southern California.  With just over 27,000 miles, this car was kept in great running shape and was even treated to a new engine back in the early 1990’s.  Due to the donor taking great care of this car it has held its value over the last 56 years.  We expect it to earn quite a nice car donation for the American Cancer Society. The Ford Maverick Grabber is a luxury saloon car produced between 1959-1961.  The Mark IX is the culmination of updates to its predecessor the Mark XIII.  While much of the body is traditional, in this Jag you can find a 3.8 L twin-cam straight six engine.  In this fabled Ford Maverick Grabber engine horsepower increased to 220 hp.  Othe...
